  • Alpha Warrior ‘Battle Rig’ comes to JBA

    Alpha Warrior professionals took a tour of Joint Base Andrews before demonstrating the Alpha Warrior Battle Rig obstacle course to JBA Airmen during a meet and greet tour. The demo allowed Airmen to get used to the new workout equipment that will be coming to JBA in the fall. The Alpha Warrior program is an Air Force-wide initiative to incorporate a functional fitness approach for Airmen to tackle the four pillars of Comprehensive Airmen Fitness: physical, mental, social and spiritual.

    JBA celebrated its 75th anniversary of serving the National Capital Region by hosting an event for service members here, May 2. The event, which featured guest speakers and performances by the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard drill team and the U.S. Air Force’s Premier Rock Band Max Impact, commemorated the installation’s history of readiness and response.
  • JBA raises awareness for child abuse prevention

    In addition to being National Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month and Month of the Military Child, April is also National Child Abuse Prevention Month, and the JBA Family Advocacy Program has been busy. To increase attention on the cause, the folks there have been planting pinwheel gardens around the base, teaching students in the child development centers about emotional awareness and providing information to service members and their families on the services that the FAP provides.

    Airman 1st Class Nala Cormier was 11 years old on the day she heard sudden, frantic noises of hysteria and dismay outside her Church Point, Louisiana, home. She followed the sounds until she found the source – her older sister holding her toddler son in her arms, wailing. “A drunk driver swerved into our yard,” Cormier said. "They hit my nephew and kept driving. He was only three years old. He didn’t make it.”
