Communication Revolution: maintainers connect using IM, video chat

Technical Sgt. Tremain Strong, 459th Maintenance Group aerospace propulsion jet engine mechanic, shows an issue with a bleed on a KC-135R Stratotanker to his supervision via a tablet with video chat on the Joint Base Andrews, Md., flight line, May 26. Last week the 459th MXG obtained data connection on its tablets, which afforded access to communication applications such as instant messenger and video chat. This new capability allows maintainers to send imagery, instantly reach the shop or supervision, as well as discuss repair issues from separate locations in real-time through video stream.
