Communication Revolution: maintainers connect using IM, video chat
Senior Master Sgt. Ash Payton, 459th Maintenance Group aircraft overhaul supervisor, discusses a repair with one of his Airmen at a separate KC-135R Stratotanker location via video chat on the Joint Base Andrews, Md., flight line, May 26. Last week the 459th MXG obtained data connection on its tablets, which afforded access to communication applications such as instant messenger and video chat. This new capability allows maintainers to send imagery, instantly reach the shop or supervision, as well as discuss repair issues from separate locations in real-time through video stream.
