459th builds hobby workshop for Wounded Warrior
Master Sgt. Steve Simkonis, 459th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron crew chief, uses a knife to remove a protective plastic seal from the surface of a workbench installed in the garage of U.S. Army Sgt. (ret.) Adam Keys’ home in Annapolis Feb. 27, 2016. Ten members of the 459th AMXS volunteered on behalf of the nonprofit Patriots Honor to unpack, build and install workbenches, power tools and roll-aways in Keys’ garage in an effort to help make dreams come true for wounded warriors. Keys, a triple amputee who has endured more than 130 surgeries due to injuries sustained from an IED explosion in Afghanistan in 2010, intends to use the equipment to pursue his hobby of building small engines and model cars.
