459th ARW gains new experience from field training exercise
VOLK FIELD, Wis. -- The 459th Air Refueling Wing participated in a field training exercise here Aug. 15-21. The exercise was the final part of a four-step Operational Readiness Training Plan designed to help organizations like the 459th ARW be more successful in real-world rapid deployment scenarios and Operational Readiness Inspections. Throughout the week Airmen were trained by Volk Field cadre in different areas like self aid and buddy care, weapons familiarization and surviving chemical threats. All of the training culminated with a simulated wartime scenario, putting learned skills to the test against an opposing force at a forward operating base. (U.S. Air Force photo/Tech. Sgt.
