Joint Base Andrews will return to normal operations Thursday, July 18, 2013 Published July 17, 2013 459th Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs JOINT BASE ANDREWS, Md -- Joint Base Andrews will resume normal operations this evening starting at 5 p.m., and be fully operational tomorrow, July 18th, 2013, due to the lifting of the water emergency situation by the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission. WSSC officials notified the base that they were able to further isolate the area of pipe to be repaired and had the ability to route water around the area to be repaired. Joint Base Andrews did not lose water supply or water pressure during the contingency and we will have adequate supply going forward to support our mission and our personnel. Base officials are asking base residents to continue to adhere with water restrictions directed by WSSC, however these restrictions will have only minor impacts on the base. "We are glad to hear that WSSC officials were able to avoid the predicted water outage for Joint Base Andrews, and residents of Prince George's County," said Col. Bill Knight, 11th Wing/Joint Base Andrews commander. "With this news, we will resume normal operations while complying with water conservation guidance provided by WSSC." AAFES facilities and the Commissary will remain closed today, but will open at their regularly scheduled time tomorrow. Malcolm Grove Medical and Surgery Center will also resume clinic operations, tomorrow. As the base returns to normal operations, water distribution at various locations throughout the installations will cease.
