September new member snapshot

JOINT BASE ANDREWS, Md. --  Airman Karen Harris is the 459th Air Refueling Wing new snapshot member of the month, Sept. 14.

Harris joins the wing for the first time after completing Basic Military Training and technical training. She manages supply in the logistics readiness squadron managing supply.

Her favorite part about the Air Force is the culture of caring.

"The Air Force takes care of its people," she said. "If someone is having an issue, they always take care of the people first. It's so family oriented and it gets the job done."

The Maryland native was a previous member of the Development and Training Flight, which prepares Reserve Airman for BMT.

"The program definitely helped me," said Harris. "I didn't get in trouble in boot camp or tech school and I came in knowing a lot."

Harris says when she isn't in uniform she likes to stay at home with her two-year-old son and husband watching Lego Land.
