Amaani Lyle 459th Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs Office ANDREWS AIR FORCE BASE, Md. -- A new vice commander will join the leadership team here in mid-September. Lt. Col. James M. "Mike" Allman has been selected by Col. Tim Cahoon, 459th ARW commander, and approved by Air Force Reserve Command, Robins, Ga., to fill the position. Colonel Allman began his career as a naval flight officer flying TACAMO C-130s out of Patuxent River Naval Air Station, Md. The naval aviator then flew the new TACAMO E-6 at Tinker Air Force Base, Okla., before transferring to the the Air Force Reserve's 507th Air Refueling Wing there, where he served as a flying squadron commander. Colonel Allman is a current and qualified KC-135R model Instructor pilot, and a veteran of numerous deployments. The colonel is currently completing a one year tour at Air Mobility Command's Tanker Airlift Control Center at Scott Air Force Base, Ill., while assigned to the 931st Air Refueling Group at McConnell Air Force Base, Kan. In his civilian career, Colonel Allman is an American Airlines Pilot.
