The chapter will service Joint Base Andrews and the surrounding area and is open to all officers with a free one-year membership being offered to those who have recently left active-duty or recently returned from a deployment. "The ROA has been serving our nations' citizens since 1922," said retired Col. Stanley Remer, USAR, RET, Deputy Director, Member Service, who represented the ROA and offered the events opening remarks. "We are focused on national security issues and we are charted by congress, and we advocate on Capitol Hill for the reserve component," said Col. Remer. During the luncheon, four members of the 459th ARW were sworn into office as the chapter's President, Executive Vice-president, Secretary, and membership chairman. Lieutenant Col. Naomi DeShore-Osborne, 459th organized the event and was sworn in as President of the ROA committee. Unity and taking small steps to make big changes were essential to the topics discussed and the statements made. "Everyone can get involved and make a difference," said Lt. Col. Osborne. "Even if it is simply emailing your congressman," she said. Colonel Joseph Globecki addressed the officers on the many benefits of the Reserve Officer Association. "The ROA helps on Capitol Hill with early retirement, bill signings for tax relief, and veterans at Walter Reed," he stated.
