Joint Base Andrews responds to water outage

  • Published
Based on pending water outage, Joint Base Andrews is reducing operations to mission-essential functions only. Most regular employees, except those required to perform mission-essential duties are excused without charge to leave. The only mission-essential personnel for the 459th Air Refueling Wing is the Command Post.

During this emergency, employees will be notified via the wing website, Facebook and/or recall procedures. Due to the nature of this emergency, employees may be contacted during their furlough period or outside their normal duty hours; therefore, employees are required to respond and comply as required. Employees will be notified no later than 5 p.m. each day of the following day's status.

Mission-Essential Employees: Supervisors will determine which employees are mission essential based on mission requirements. The only mission-essential personnel for the 459th Air Refueling Wing is the Command Post. Based on this decision, some employees may be notified to stay at work or report to work even though the Installation Commander has decided to close all or part of an activity due to a crisis. Non-Mission essential employees not required to report to work will be placed on "administrative" leave.

Non-mission essential employees (including employees on pre-approved paid leave) will be granted excused absence (administrative leave) for the number of hours they were scheduled to work unless they are:

- Required to telework under a current telework agreement
- On official travel or outside of the effected water outage area
- On non-pay status (leave without pay or furlough)
- On an alternative work schedule (AWS) day off

Telework Ready Employees: Will perform telework during the effective hours/days of the installation closure or request leave or a combination of both in accordance with their organization's policies and procedures, subject to any applicable collective bargaining requirements.

Emergency Employees (e.g., firefighters, security forces, emergency medical personnel, etc.) are expected to report to their worksite unless otherwise directed by their supervisor.

Please refer any civilian personnel questions via e-mail to askthecpo@afncr.af.mil.

At this time, furlough days will be as scheduled.

Senior leaders advise personnel to check the wing website and Facebook page for the latest information.
