Accelerated promotion
ANDREWS AIR FORCE BASE, Md. -- Lt. Col. Louie Woody, 459th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron flight nurse, gets his new rank pinned on by spouse (left) Col. Kathleen Woody and Lt. Col. Colonel Woody's new rank is the result of a very rare accelerated promotion that requires a member to be in a position commensurate with the rank to which they are promoted. The member's commander requests permission for the member to pin on the rank at a date earlier than the selection board has assigned the member.
