Tuskegee Airmen visit 459th ARW
ANDREWS AFB, Md. -- Maj. Eric Jenkins, a pilot with the 459th Air Refueling Wing, shakes hands with Tuskegee Airman, retired colonel, William Broadwater. Colonel Broadwater and the other famed and historic members of the African-American fighter squadron that escorted U.S. bomber aircraft into enemy territory in World War II, stopped by the Air Force Reserve unit to present an award to wing commander, Col. Stayce D. Harris and the wing during its commander's call. The award is a thanks to Colonel Harris for her long-ime involvement in Tuskegee Airmen International.
Upon the announcement of their presence, the wing members gave a long, rousing, standing ovation. The Tuskegee Airmen finished off their day at the Club at Andrews. There, they signed photos of their famous "Redtail" fighter aircraft refueling a B-24, a piece of art created by artist Mickey Harris.
