Wing drums up more than $500 for Air Force Assistance Fund Published April 8, 2008 By Staff Sgt. Amaani Lyle 459th Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs Office ANDREWS AIR FORCE BASE, Md. -- The 459th Air Refueling Wing collected more than $500 for the Air Force Assistance Fund from the onset to the close of the drive April 8. "There was an extreme showing generosity from members throughout the wing, very much in line with the Wingman mentality," said Lt. Col. Michael E. Laughton, 459th ARW commander's executive. The 459th ARW collected $571 to contribute to funds such as the Air Force Village, the Air Force Assistance Fund, the Air Force Enlisted Village, the LeMay Foundation and various other charities. The Air Force Village Foundation was founded in 1964 to fulfill the vision of the leaders in the Air force Officers' Wives' Club of Washington, D.C. The Air Force Enlisted Village was founded in 1967 to provide a safe, secure and dignified place for indigent surviving spouses of retired Air Force personnel. The Air Force Aid Society provides worldwide emergency assistance, sponsors education assistance programs, and offers a variety of base community enhancement programs that improve quality of life for Airmen and their families.
