The 459th Air Refueling Wing is excited to announce that this year’s Family Day will be held the Saturday of the September Unit Training Assembly.

Appropriately, this year’s Family Day will be themed “Welcome Home” as it will coincide with the return of several service members from their deployments to various locations overseas.

“This is an opportunity for the unit to say thank you to the families for their support of members serving in the Air Force Reserve,” said Senior Master Sgt. Jeffrey Barnes, 459th Logistics Readiness Squadron first sergeant.

Last year’s Family Day was cancelled due to bad weather so this will be the first Family Day the unit has held in two years.

Members of the Rising 6 Council are in charge of the planning and fund raising for Family Day.

“We take the lead in organizing the event by coordinating the various events and activities,” said Staff Sgt. Keith Omniewski, 459th ARW financial management specialist and Rising 6 Council member.

Family Day promotes greater involvement in the Andrews Reserve community as well as allows members to show their families around the base.

Any members of the wing ranking from airman basic to technical sergeant are welcome to attend the Wing Rising 6 Council meetings scheduled for 2 p.m. Sundays during the UTA in the Wing Auditorium.

For more information on how to volunteer for Family Day or to participate in the Rising 6 Council contact Senior Airman Allison Queen at allison.queen@us.af.mil.

More details about the cost of tickets for Family Day as well as the food available will relayed to first sergeants during the August UTA.
