Tech Sgt. Sharese Junious serves as a Combat Arms Instructor, or CATM, who routinely qualifies 459th Air Refueling Wing members in firearms training.

Originally from Chicago, Sergeant Junious enlisted in 1997 and served tours in Georgia, South Korea, and Guam. She finished up her active duty commitment at what is now the 89th Airlift Wing and joined the 459th ARW in 2007.

While on active duty, Sergeant Junious served as a bomb dog handler and with the Presidential support program here.

After joining the 459th, TSgt Junious was selected to attend the Combat Arms Instructor school hosted at Lackland Air Force Base, Tex.  Possessing these dual qualifications is unique to the Security Forces career field since there are very few troops who maintain both specialties.

Currently, Sergeant Junious resides in Rockville, Md. where she remains in uniform with Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) as a patrolman. She joined the MCPD shortly after leaving active duty, and has found the civilian police life more complex when compared to her military duties.

Sergeant Junious has always had a clear set of goals while in the military, in contrast to her civilian policing career where she is keeping her options open. She is focusing heavily on completing her undergraduate degree in psychology from American Military University while balancing a busy schedule exacerbated by shift work.

Personal interests for Sergeant Junious change frequently, and depend entirely on when you catch her. Last year she was involved with flag football in her community, and this year she has been dedicating her free time to weight lifting.

In the near future, Sergeant Junious looks forward to joining the 459th's Public Affairs club to reignite a past interest in photography.

Sergeant Junious' long-term goal with the Reserves is to one day make Chief Master Sergeant. She thoroughly enjoys the instruction and mentoring aspects that come with her additional duties as a CATM instructor, and she hopes to carry over that experience with her eventual promotion to Chief.
